Heather’s piece is a lovely wall hanging or table mat made of wool and cotton. The backing on the piece shown here is pieced, as if on a quilt. The backing can be whatever you like—a quilt, pieced material, ticking, chintz, quilting calico. Nearly any material will work, depending on the look you are going for.
Heather Gavin enjoys designing patterns for all types of handwork—embroidery, appliqué, punch needle, rug hooking—in styles ranging from primitive to modern. She and her family live in Texas, surrounded by wildflowers, quirky animals, and stitching projects.
