"What I remember about hooking Buckingham was feeling overwhelmed by its size and the number of different kinds of flowers I'd have to learn to fine shade effectively. Every day for a year, I hooked some and learned that the antidote to the overwhelm was to focus on the small area being worked and not on the larger pattern. Under the guidance of Nancy Blood who color planned the rug and got me started at her Owego rug school, I was on my own after that. Visual aid came from the book, A Rug Hooker's Garden from Rug Hooking Magazine's Framework Series 2000, Nancy being one of the authors. This rug still gives me a real sense of accomplishment from the successful dyeing of the multiple swatches and background to the realistic shading of each flower."
