"It was at this point in my rug-hooking journey that Peggy Hannum, my teacher decided it was time for me to color-plan my own rug. Paisley Shawl is a very large rug: 68"x 98". I took the pattern to my tennis club, laid it on the court, and went upstairs to the observation area and took a picture. I then took the picture to a blueprint shop and had them print out a copy. I used colored pencils to determine the placement of colors.  

I discovered that after I had ¼ of the rug finished, the rest was copying what I did in the first part. I took a picture and used it as my visual aid, so I didn’t have to keep unrolling the rug to see how I did something."
