"I made this rug for my two oldest twin grandchildren, Katie and Sam. They live on Monterey Bay in California so I, having fallen in love with sea otters (they are so cute), did some research and came up with this design. The border is all the sea creatures they eat, and they wrap themselves in the kelp to keep from floating out to sea when they sleep."
