Eye See You: The Final Steps

In July 2011, I was happily hooking Eye See You when Leonard (Lenny) Feenan suggested we needed to do something else with the pattern. He knew I wanted to keep this a one-of-a-kind pattern, but he felt the pattern should be shared. After several suggestions, we settled on the idea of enlarging each of the blocks four times the original size to form a puzzle rug that would allow other rug hookers to hook the blocks. We kept this idea to ourselves until I went to the McGown Northern Teacher Workshop that month. At that time, I had three blocks hooked and everyone admired the concept, the pattern, and the hooking.

We had a chance to talk with Judy Carter, Lenny Feenan, Debbie Sauder David, and Karen Wright at the unveiling of Eye See You II at Sauder Village in August 2012. They shared thoughts on the creation of Eye See You II and on it winning the Sauder Award.
