14th Annual Sauder Village Rug Hooking Week

Talented rug hookers show off their creativity each August.

By: Kim Kreiger

Traditional and contemporary craftsmen are the cornerstone of the Sauder Village experience. For 35 years, guests have traveled to this recognized Ohio destination to experience history and the talents of many skilled artisans, including potters, glassblowers, blacksmiths, tinsmiths, spinners, weavers, and basketmakers. In mid-August, that circle of creativity grows to include the talents of rug hookers as Sauder Village hosts Rug Hooking Week.

Scheduled for August 16-21, 2010, Rug Hooking Week features internationally recognized teachers, an exhibit of rugs from the 20th annual Celebration of Hand-Hooked Rugs, and a three-dimensional display of Mary Sheppard Burton and Leonard Feenan's Noah's Ark.

"Whether you are interested in attending the event for one day or the entire week, this event is sure to have something for everyone," shared Kathy Wright, event director.
