Before you sit down to design—even before the pencil is in your hand—you have to understand what exactly is folk art. We know that folk art is a piece of artwork by an untrained artist (maybe even anonymous) that often reflects the surrounding culture of the creator. In paintings, the artist uses strong forms in simple arrangements, using flattened perspective. Folk art can be highly decorative, and the painter often incorporates bright colors into the work.
