Primitive Snowman Star
Holiday cheer comes in five points
Snowman Star, 18” x 18”, #9-cut wool on linen with plaid backing. Designed and hooked by Kathy and Jeff Graybill, Waterford, Pennsylvania, 2016.
Every home can use another star for holiday and winter decorations. Hook this folksy, primitive snowman star and hang it where it will shine for the holidays.
When picking the colors for this star, I used a mix of colors for the background. A variety of different colors in the background will give more depth than one color. I used bark brown, deep burgundy, deep green, and purplish blue in this background.
When I choose my wools for any rug, I always look for wool that has both the light shades and dark shades of one or multiple colors in the wool; this mix of shades will give even more depth and texture throughout. Textured wool makes the best rugs. For the snowman, I used two different pieces of cream wool. For his carrot nose, I chose wool with many shades of pumpkin and orange.
Now we are ready to start hooking.
