Using stencils for rug patterns

When I first discovered hooking at a rug show five years ago, I knew immediately it would be my obsession for life. My first patterns were purchased on eBay or from online vendors, but I really wanted to design my own rugs with subjects and motifs that were special to me. Unfortunately, my drawing ability is below absolute zero. Even my stick figures cause people to flee in terror. And then one day I thought: why not use stencils?
