"The perfect subject for a hooking presented itself tucked into a corner of an Outer Banks, NC antique shop. The red-lined shelf and a window behind these old jars made for fantastic reflections. The biggest attraction was the raised lettering on the jars. I attacked this composition from the darkest jar to the lightest, putting in highlights and darkest shades first and paying attention to the shapes and placements of color masses. Each letter was treated individually, hooking each one’s highlights and dark shadows. Basically, whatever I saw was hooked into the design. I’m thrilled with the brand name lettering."
