"One of my dear friends, and a rug hooking student, found that she had contracted a serious illness. For my friend, her faith is a large part of who she is and what sustains her. I felt that in creating this piece for her, she would be given a peace as she moved through her illness. It was deeply personal for me to hook this because so much of my love for my friend was hooked into each loop. I cannot possibly express the deep love that went into the hooking of this piece for my friend Geri. It is truly from the heart.
For me, getting the small, angelic smile and her hands in prayer were the parts I worked the hardest on. I found that I had to get her fingers in, then start the tweaking process of getting the definition of fingernails, knuckles, and shadows."
