Canadian Connection: Ganong Chocolate Box Exhibit, 2017

Ganong All Gone and Ready for More, 20" x 11", #4- and 5-cut custom-dyed wool, recycled wool, embellished with an earring and bits of Briggs & Little yarn on linen. Hooked by Beverley Floyd, Erb’s Settlement, New Brunswick, 2016.

To start at the beginning—and I mean the very beginning—I would go back to the 1960s, when I toured the original Ganong Chocolate factory in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada, with my Brownie troop. To a child of eight, it was thrilling to tour a candy factory. I remember excitedly announcing to my parents later that day that I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I grew up: I wanted to become a “hand dipper” at Ganong’s Chocolate Factory making chocolates.
