A Rug-Hooking Challenge

A Canadian group meets virtually for fun and friendship

A Rug-Hooking Challenge

We are a group who found one another online during the pandemic and we are spread across Canada and the United States, unlikely to ever be able to all meet in person at one time. We all have different styles, preferences, and years of experience (some had just learned how to hook!). We connect on Zoom weekly, but even more regularly in our private Facebook group, and we always manage to inspire one another.

We decided that we would each draw an original design, and the only parameters were that it had to be 7 1/2" x 7 1/2", be a black-and-white sketch, and that the details of our design and our hooking had to be kept secret until the very end. All the designs were emailed to the coordinator, and she reassigned them to another member, careful not to include the name of the designer or any other details about how to complete it. We then hooked the rugs however we wished, imagining what the original intent may have been. Then we each mailed our little rugs to another member, the final recipient.
