Magnificent Panoramas on Purpose
Begin by hooking a landscape
I live in a grand place. There are beautiful vistas along both sides of my peninsula. On the Lake Huron side it's like being at the ocean--you can see forever. On the other side, the Colpoys Bay side pictured above, you can see beautiful cliffs that tower over the water's edge.
I’m often inspired to hook these scenes. I find myself chasing the “feeling” a view gives me: unlimited space, a sky never ending, the magnitude of distance and depth. Conveying the perceived depth of a space in our artwork is a tidy little trick to have under your belt.
You’ll be glad to know this magic is easy to create.
