Meet the Authors
Carol DeCoteau and Julie Thomas are the mother/daughter team of The Old Tattered Flag. Carol started hooking in 1995 and has been infatuated with her craft ever since. She has hooked well over 1000 rugs in the last 25 years. Carol loves to share her knowledge of color and technique and her easy going
manner and gentle demeanor have helped countless rug hookers over the years.
Julie first saw the beautiful art of miniature punch needle in 2003 and was instantly swept away. She has created over 400 designs for The Old Tattered Flag and has contributed designs to Rug Hooking magazine, The Wool Street Journal, Create and Decorate, and is a regular contributor to Punch Needle and Primitive Stitcher magazine. Julie and Carol have several tutorials on their website and on YouTube, and have taught at many hook-ins throughout the country.
