Dress Rehearsal

Dimensions: 20" x 25"
Materials: #3-cut wool on linen
Designed and hooked by Carol Koerner, Bethesda, Maryland, 2009.
Featured in: Celebration XX

"I love the relationship between the girls in this hooking. Each girl’s arm, neck and head position reflect the movement of the others as she fastens the costume of the dancer in front of her. The girls, including my daughter, were preparing in unison to go on stage, just as they would dance The Nutcracker’s 'Waltz of the Snowflakes' in unison. The challenge here was to differentiate each dancer and tutu from the next. Hooking the darker parts of one dancer’s skin and tulle skirt next to brighter parts of an adjacent girl’s accomplished this. This piece was a Readers' Choice."
