"Endurance hooked quickly once on the frame, as if I needed the shoes for my daily walk. This project developed for a special event our gallery hosted in conjunction with the American Cancer Society. As the curator of the exhibit, most of the artists participating had experienced cancer themselves or with a loved one; many shared their personal stories with me. The emotional component of the event blocked my personal creativity. Days before the event, the idea blossomed while on the phone and viewing my walking shoes by the back door."
