"I continue to be fascinated by quilt patterns and especially the endless variations on the log cabin theme. I also find the layering of images extremely interesting. This is a simple example of tromp l'oeil; the leaves have drifted onto the rug. It was very satisfying to hook; one never knows how a geometric of this sort is going to turn out----mesmerizing, exciting, really great, or ok but a little on the boring side. Having set myself the challenge of working with purple and black, it could have gone either way, but the red was key and I'm pretty happy with the result."
