Holiday Stars
Dear Beginning Rug Hooker
Handcrafted holiday gifts make memories. These mixed media stars are not only fun to make, but they will also give you experience hooking with glittery, glitzy materials.
Begin by transferring the star pattern to a backing of your choice. If you have a piece of backing that you don't care to use for a rug or a scrap of leftover backing, now is a great time to use it up. A piece of foundation 15" x 20" will make several stars. Leave enough space between the stars so you can cut them away from the backing later.
After you draw the pattern, it's time to start hooking. Hook inside the pattern line so your star will not grow out of shape. I hooked these stars with #7-cut wools from my noodle pile.
