"Two passions--rug hooking and traveling--fill my time. I have traveled the globe to fulfill my travel passion and crossed the U.S. numerous times to avail myself of the guidance of my mentor, Diane Stoffel. Inspiration for this piece came from a safari in Kenya. Fascinated with the elegance and structure of giraffes, I chose to commemorate this trip by hooking a piece featuring these long-necked wonders.  After reviewing hundreds of photos from the safari, I decided on a collage approach. Enlarging the details of the giraffes allowed me to utilize my preferred fine cuts for detail and shading. The intricate, delicate, subtle shadings of the animals in their foliage habitat presented both a challenge and a learning experience."
