"My daughter Ann and I decided I would hook a rug for her living room. She specified she would like a geometric design, and after looking at a few ideas she and her husband liked this design that was an illustration of mirrored pinwheel symmetry in Jinny Beyer's book The Secrets of Interlocking Patterns: Designing Tessellations. I find that geometric designs are often a challenge in that you have to be precise about the lines of the pattern. As well, a large rug requires a considerable time commitment which I usually deal with by pacing myself and trying to hook a reasonable amount each week. Finally, when hooking the technique of beading in a rug, keeping the two pieces of wool straight underneath the rug so that they don't overlap each other is tricky, actually a pain. However the effect in this rug was a nice contrast to the solid colours."
