"Still Life #1 with Mango was the first in my series of hooked still lifes. I was looking for my own niche in the rug hooking world and wanted to improve my ability to depict different textures and surfaces, thus this series was born. This piece had me dyeing wool for the first time. A rich palette of greens resulted when bits of different wools were thrown into a green dye bath. I painted with dye on window wool, which was four times the width of the space it was to be hooked in, and then cut and hooked it horizontally."
