"Based on Nip Rogers’s cover art for a Carter Center Annual Report, this piece inspired me to fuse philanthropy and rug hooking. I received permission to interpret it into a hooked piece and quickly got to work. It was to be included in an upcoming Carter Center’s Annual Auction in support of their major global efforts, such as eradicating Guinea worm. Illustrating the water’s movement in the jug with the cloth water filter was a challenge. I learned about the delicate process of translating art from one medium to another so that the finished product exudes the life force and inspiration that were infused into the original piece. I hooked this piece under the tutelage of Diane Stoffel."
