Brandt Eisner enjoys and curates all kinds of art for Swoon Fine Art and Antiques, his Nova Scotia gallery. He also happens to design room-sized carpets for Red Spruce Rugs. Recently, he brought these interests together in an exciting way.
Hooked on Swoon was Brandt’s show of hooked art adaptations. In 2013, he invited rug hookers to review the works of art on display at the Swoon gallery and select an inspiration piece. The media of the inspiration pieces ranged from oil, watercolor, and acrylic paintings to pottery, stained glass, and folk-art carvings. Twenty-two rugs were displayed alongside their inspiration pieces at the gallery during March. The creativity of the rug hookers and the sheer beauty of the rugs excited the jury members, and we are pleased to show you some examples here.
