Backgrounds have the unique purpose of unifying a rug of different motifs into one defined and successful unit. We call it the “background” because that is its function: to take on the supporting role of showing off the central images in a rug. The colors of wool, the direction we hook, and the types of wool we use all make a big difference. Let us examine each of these important factors.
