"This Jane Olson pattern was a project I brought to rug camp with Nancy Blood, the teacher. The first suggestion she made was to take out the flowers in the pattern's inner field and only hook the border. I trusted her advice. Jane Olson's casserole-dye formulas were used for the leaves and Nancy's formula for the background wool. Hooking the rug was an experience of having the wool do the work. There was no call for fine shading for the casserole-dyed wool just needed to be hooked in. The spot-dyed background wool made the colors pop."
