"This rug concept arose from the ashes of a previous design, which proved to be too much for me at that point of my skills. Even though it was fairly simple, the original design needed detail and contrast and a setting I could not put together. So I set it aside until I had gotten to a better level of ability and approached it from a totally different point of view.
So Mother Goose went from a simple goose in a pasture to a more elaborate Goose-human hybrid in a Victorian library. I was able to pull in more of her storybook characters and give them all a sense of place. The colors are rich, presented in a limited color palette of green, purple, orange, and blue, with cream and gold accents. I wanted to convey a sense of charm and sweetness and just a taste of Victorian oddity to this rug. And to make it fun."
