Owl Portraits Perfect for Winter

By: Chris Antle
Creatures of the Night

Rug hooking journeys are usually interesting adventures, most often involving more than one confluence. This was certainly true of my journey into this Owl Portrait project. Faced with the reality of strict lockdowns during the first year of the pandemic, I wanted to find a fun and interesting project to work on through the long winter months. My only grandson had just started attending a school whose mascot is the Great Horned Owl. I have always loved owls. My inspiration was ignited! Drawing on observational skills developed through years of bird watching and a lifelong love of drawing, I quickly envisioned this unique project and immersed myself in it.
