"I commissioned Melina White to design a smaller version of her nine-foot hand-punched runner. I was attracted to her rug because I enjoy hooking pictorials, animals, and the fall season.

I decided to use textured wool for the owl and hare because textured wool helps create the effect of fur and feathers when hooked. The wool in the sky has sparkles, which added interest and a hint of a starry night. The rug is a woodland scene, so I selected a spot-dyed wool in earth tones. To create the effect of a blustery night sky, I selected a variety of blues and hooked them in swirling lines. Oranges, golds, and browns enhanced the feeling of fall."
