"I loved the Winnie the Pooh books as a child, and when I was recently looking up some classic photos, I was captivated by a publicity photo of the real Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh. I did a lot of research and used a second photo as inspiration for Christopher's other stuffed animal friends. I used a variety of sources to decide which elements I wanted to use. After researching the Hundred Acre Wood, I chose an oak tree and beech tree to be the borders on the sides, as they are the most prominent trees in the Woods. I used a foggy version of the landscape as the background. The title piece at the top of the rug is hooked in the same font as the title of the first edition of the Winnie the Pooh book. And the verse at the bottom is the last sentence from the last of the four books, which I felt summed up the essence of the rug. The rug was a true labor of love with lots of challenges, and I loved creating it. I am going to donate it to our local downtown library in 2019. So proud!"
